From the Jemison Police Department
At approximately 4:27 pm this evening The Jemison Police Department along with Jemison Fire and Rescue responded to an accident at the Guy Street railroad crossing involving a passenger vehicle and a train.
The vehicle was occupied by 2 adults and 3 kids.
The 40 year old female driver was pronounced deceased on the scene. A 24 year old female was transported to UAB via Life Saver Helicopter. An 11 year old female was transported to Childrens hospital via Haynes Life Flight Helicopter. A 16 year old male and a 13 year old female was transported to Childrens via RPS Ambulance.
The extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.
This is a horrible and tragic situation. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers are with everyone involved and who have been affected.
Multiple agencies responded to assist and we are very much appreciative of that.
This is an active investigation being conducted by our Traffic Homicide Investigators and will be for quite sometime.
