Dear City of Jemison Resident,
The week of December 18, 2023, Republic services will be “automating” your garbage route. This means that your cart will no longer be emptied by a person, but by an automated arm on the garbage truck.
What does this change mean for you? The list below details requirements for automated service:
- Carts must be placed curbside, within 5 feet of the roadway
- Carts must be at least 3 feet away from any horizontal obstructions such as: power poles, fences, mailboxes, trees, and additional carts
- Carts must be at least 30 feet away from vertical obstructions such as: power lines, phone lines, and cable lines
- Carts should be placed curbside the day before service; the current service pattern will change
Route automation will take effect the week of December 18, 2023. To ensure your trash is collected, please follow the cart placement instructions above.
The service date for pick up will not change, however, the time of the pick on your regular scheduled day may differ from what you are used to. Also, please place your can with the bar facing the roadway the night before pick up. If your address has not been serviced by 8:00 a.m. the day after your scheduled pick up day, please contact city hall. 205-688-4491 Option 1
